Mentoring Programme
Killarney Cycling Club MENTORING PROGRAMME – SPRING 2026
Killarney Cycling Club is proud to announce the return of its highly anticipated Adult Mentoring Programme, starting on April 2nd. The initiative provides a structured, supportive pathway for adults aiming to tackle the 180km Ring of Kerry Charity Cycle or those simply looking to master group riding safety.
Recognizing that the leap from solo cycling to club riding can be intimidating, the 10-week programme begins in the club’s room in St. Mary’s Parish Hall. The first two sessions are held indoors on static bikes, allowing participants to receive personalized coaching on bike fit, gear selection, and road etiquette in a controlled environment before heading outdoors.
“Our goal is to build confidence as much as fitness,” says Dan O Connor of Killarney Cycling Club. “Whether you’re eyeing Molls Gap or just want to feel safer on the road, we provide the technical foundation and the community spirit to get you there.”
Key Programme Details:
• Launch Date: Thursday April 2nd at 6.45pm
• Location: Killarney Cycling Clubroom, St. Mary’s Parish Hall (V93HX44).
• The Progression: Two Thursday indoor technical sessions followed by eight Wednesday guided evening road rides, gradually increasing distance from 20m to 70km
• Expert Guidance: All sessions are led by experienced club mentors focused on safety, stamina, and “rules of the road.”
To take part, participants will need a roadworthy bike, a helmet, a drink, front and rear lights, a spare tube, and a positive attitude!
