Together for 2021-2023

Killarney Cycling Club is synonymous with the community of the Killarney region since the early 1980s and its development into one of the most diverse clubs in Ireland has been based on the commitment of our members and the support of local businesses which recognized our contribution to the community.
The agreement of 12 businesses to continue sponsoring the club for three years from 2021 to 2023 is an endorsement of our standing and we, in turn, must reciprocate by re-doubling our efforts to continue developing the club on the one hand, and by supporting local businesses on the other.
We know that multinational corporations which deal in on-line trading would not have sponsored us. We also know that, directly or indirectly, we are all part of the bigger club which is the wider Killarney region and it must be our priority to make this sustainable in every respect, from sporting to business and jobs.
It is heartening to receive this commitment of ongoing financial support in light of current trading difficulties faced by all business and I wish to sincerely thank all concerned. I also wish to take this opportunity to thank our prior sponsors and to wish them well through these difficult times.
This latest sponsorship deal is part of the constantly evolving process which saw us developing in tandem with the environment we live in. Our club was initially focused on competitive road-cycling and then played a key role in the development of the various mountain-biking disciplines in Ireland. The expansive leisure cohort – the single biggest section of the club – has further diversified our membership and increased awareness of the club within the region.
Catering for this wide variety of disciplines, abilities and ages, our club provides a range of options for new and current members that is second to none in the country and is indicative of the club’s inclusive ethos which aims to serve and support everyone.
We look forward to the annual itinerary of leisure sportives, including our own Twin Peaks Challenge, and in mentoring new members to undertake The Ring of Kerry. We will again be looking out for the club jersey on our road-racers at events like The Rás Taitlteann, Rás Mumhan and The Junior Tour of Ireland, and we can be sure that our off-road racers will continue to make a national impact at Cyclo-Cross, Enduro and NPS mountain-biking. Most of all, we will look forward to the joy of seeing our Youth members learning, competing and developing.
To help realize these ambitions we must focus on what we as a club have been very good at, and endeavour to continue to be good at it into the future. The dynamic of all the different structures within the club, along with the commitment of our members, mentors and group leaders, will bring us together in striving for the success that we have so been accustomed to and which we will achieve again. We will promote the long-term view that we are all part of something that promotes the health and wellbeing of all our members – something that is fundamental to our very existence.
We are truly indebted to our sponsors for their continued financial support and solidarity which will help us on this mission. With this in mind, please think local when deciding on where to spend your hard-earned cash.
Our coalition of sponsors for 2021-23 is again headed by KWD (Killarney Waste Disposal) and our other supporters are: Ahern’s Garage Castleisland; Aqua Design, Killorglin; Autopoint Motor Group, Tralee; the Big Little Bike Shop, Killarney; Kayne’s Bar and Bistro, Killarney; Killarney Coffee Roasters; Killarney Credit Union; Leane’s Kitchen’s and Bedrooms, Killarney; REC-Renewable Energy Centre, Killarney; and the Ross Hotel and the Killarney Park Hotel in Killarney.
